Tragedy Strikes: Five-Year-Old Drowns in Swimming Pool During Birthday Celebration in Goa
Panaji: In a heartbreaking turn of events, a five-year-old boy lost his life after drowning in a swimming pool at a residential complex near Panaji during a birthday party, as confirmed by the police.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday, leaving the community in shock and grief.
The victim, identified as Daksh Mauskar, hailed from Valpoi village in North Goa. Accompanied by his parents, Daksh had joined the festivities at Old Goa village to celebrate the birthday of a family friend. As the celebrations ensued at the club house of the residential complex, Daksh wandered to the swimming pool unbeknownst to anyone.
According to a senior official from the Old Goa police station, Daksh’s absence initially went unnoticed as his parents presumed he was playing with other children. It was only later that the chilling discovery was made – Daksh was found unconscious in the swimming pool.
“When Daksh was not found around, his parents initially thought that he must be playing with other children. However, he was later found in the swimming pool. He was pulled out and found to be unconscious,” shared the police official.
Efforts were immediately made to revive Daksh, and he was swiftly transported to a nearby private hospital. However, despite all attempts, Daksh succumbed to the tragedy. He was subsequently transferred to the Goa Medical College, Bambolim, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, categorizing it as an accidental death. The police are diligently probing the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate drowning.
This tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and safety protocols, particularly in settings where children are present.
