Meghanathan's journey in the film industry spanned over three decades. Born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, he was the third child of legendary actor Balan K. Nair and Sarada Nair. Despite earning a technical diploma in Automobile Engineering from Coimbatore, Meghanathan's passion led him to the silver screen. He made his acting debut with the 1983 film Asthram, directed by P. N. Menon, which set the stage for a rich career filled with diverse roles.
He quickly became noted for his portrayal of antagonist characters, with standout performances in films such as Panchagni, Chamayam, Rajadhani, Bhoomigeetham, Chenkol, and Vaasthavam.
