SBI donates 120 ICU beds in Assam

The Chief General manager(CGM) of State Bank of India(SBI) North East Circle, on May 22 donated 120 Intensive Care Unit(ICU) beds to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital(GMCH).

The CGM RS Ramesh met the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma and handed over the letter for sanction of 120 ICU Beds on behalf of the SBI Foundation as part of Covid 19 relief activities. The letter was handed over to the Chief Minister in the presence of GMCH Principal Dr Achyut Baishya. The Chief Minister’s official Twitter handle announced the sanction.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier said that the impact of the second wave of COVID- 19 was extremely severe in the state for which medical infrastructure needs to be strengthened.

He took to his social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter and appealed to the public to contribute generously to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund or the Assam Arogya Nidhi account to support the government’s efforts in handling the pandemic. Accordingly many organisations have been contributing to the COVID relief fund. So far, Assam has recorded 3.66 lakhs of COVID cases and 2667 deaths.
