COIMBATORE: Police have launched a search for a 12-member gang in connection with the murder of a 40-year-old daily wager who was involved in Iridium trading in the city’s suburbs.
Police said, the victim Marimuthu was a resident of Kanthae-Goundan Savadi near Velandhavalam close to the Tamil Nadu – Kerala border.
Six months back, Marimuthu went missing. Unable to trace him, his mother lodged a police complaint and based on that, a special team was formed recently by the district police SP.
Following this, two of Marimuthu’s associates identified as Sundar Raj and Palani Vel, coming to know about the police complaint, surrendered to the Kumitipathy village administrative officer the next day, claiming responsibility for Marimuthu’s murder.
The duo was taken under custody. A special police team is on the lookout for the 12-member gang in connection with the murder, who are on the run after the incident.
