Tamil Nadu: 52-year-old arrested for raping three minor girls in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: A 52-year-old man was arrested by the Tiruppur District Police for allegedly raping three minor girls in his house near Perumanallur in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore
As per the Avinashi all-woman police, two of the rape survivors were sisters, aged five and seven years old while the third survivor was a 10-year-old girl and a Class V student. The three girls and the accused were residing on the same street within the limits of Perumanallur police station, as stated in a report by Times of India (TOI).
The accused was working with a banian company in the district and has a daughter. He had married off his daughter recently, said police.
At around 11 am on April 24, the accused elderly man lured the girls, who were playing on a street near their house, to give them chocolates and sweets and took them to his house.
“Later, he raped them repeatedly and threatened them not to reveal the incident to anyone,” added police as quoted by the TOI.
However, one of the girls narrated her order to her mother following which a complaint was lodged a complaint with the Avinashi all-woman police and an enquiry was initiated into the matter.
Inspector S Saraswathi carried out an investiogation and sent the three girls to the Tirupur government hospital for medical examination, which confirmed rape on the minors.
Subsequently, police arrested the elderly man in the same evening. The accused has been booked under Section 5(l)(m) read with 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and Section 506(ii) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), reported TOI.
He was produced before the special court for Pocso cases and sent to judicial custody at Coimbatore Central Prison.
