Kerala couple murders kids before ending lives, cops find 5 hanging from same fan
Kerala Police on Wednesday morning found a five-member family, including three children, hanging from a ceiling fan in a house in Kannur in Kerala.
A couple in Kerala’s Kannur allegedly murdered their kids before killing themselves on Tuesday night. The police found five members of a family, including three children, hanging to a same fan in a house at Cherupuzha in Kerala’s Kannur district.
The natives of Cherupuzha, Sreeja and her second husband Shaji, and children from her first marriage, Sujith, 12, Suraj, 10, and Surabhi, 8, — were found hanging inside their residence. Police suspect that both Sreeja and Shaji murdered their three children before killing themselves. The incident occurred late on Tuesday night, police said.
The three children were less than 12 years old. Shaji married Sreeja on May 16. They hung themselves from the same fan.
Shaji is survived by another wife and two children. The house they were living in belonged to Sreeja’s ex-husband. Locals say that there have been family issues in the past few days regarding the same and many cases have been registered at the Cherupuzha police station. It is believed that these problems led to the mass suicide.
Further procedures have begun. Senior police officials and a forensic team are at the spot.
