India’s Vande Bharat Express fleet welcomes the Coimbatore-Bengaluru Cantonment Vande Bharat Express, the 39th addition to this prestigious lineup. On December 30, 2023, the semi-high-speed train embarked on its inaugural journey from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, to Bengaluru, Karnataka. Prime Minister Narendra Modi remotely inaugurated the service through video conferencing from Ayodhya Dham Junction, symbolizing the nation’s dedication to advancing rail travel and connectivity.
Operated by the Southern Railway zone of Indian Railways, this express train is the fourth Vande Bharat Express for Bengaluru and the second between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Coimbatore-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express Train Route:
The journey of the Coimbatore-Bengaluru Cantonment Vande Bharat Express includes halts at five stations: Tiruppur, Erode Jn., Salem Jn., Dharmapuri, and Hosur. Covering a distance of 375 km, the express train completes its route in approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes, operating six days a week.

As per the South Western Railway, the journey begins from Coimbatore at 5 am, with halts at Omalur (7:40 am), Dharmapuri (8:30 am), and Hosur (10:05 am), concluding at Bengaluru Cantonment by 11:30 am. This marks a historic moment as the train becomes the inaugural service departing from the redeveloped Bengaluru Cantonment station, expected to be fully operational by 2025.
