Security Measures in Coimbatore Heightened on Republic Day Eve

As the nation prepares to celebrate Republic Day on January 26th, rigorous security measures are being implemented in Coimbatore. In anticipation of the occasion, a substantial number of police personnel are conducting intensive checks in areas with high public footfall and along district borders.

Under the directives of Metropolitan Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, four special forces have been deployed in Coimbatore district. Round-the-clock inspections and surveillance efforts are being carried out extensively to ensure the safety and security of the public.

The Bomb Squad police have initiated thorough searches at key locations, including bus stands, railway stations, places of worship, and various entertainment venues where large crowds gather.

Key areas receiving intensive checks include railway stations, Gandhipuram bus stand, Singhanallur bus stand, Ukkadam bus stand, Poomarket, smart city ponds, malls, theaters, parks, and hospitals within Coimbatore district.

In addition to these measures, the bomb disposal unit police, assisted by sniffer dogs, are conducting searches at significant places of worship such as Koniyamman temple, Tandumariamman temple, Marudamalai Murugan temple, Fort Iswaran temple, and others.

It is emphasized that these monitoring and testing activities will persist until the conclusion of Republic Day, ensuring a secure environment for the public during the celebration.
