COIMBATORE: Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin should look in a mirror and perform a self-examination before blaming the governor, said state BJP president K Annamalai on Monday.

Responding to Stalin’s letter to the President of India against the governor, Annamalai said Stalin had found fault with the governor for non-existent problems.

He told reporters in Coimbatore that Stalin’s letter was an outcome of his fear over the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. “The letter reflects Stalin’s fear and helplessness,’’ Annamalai said.

Stalin should complete the innumerable tasks like fulfilling electoral promises which are pending, instead of blaming the governor for everything, he said.

“There are several issues plaguing Tamil Nadu. The CM should address problems like illicit liquor and rising crime against women. Several electoral promises are yet to be fulfilled. These issues should be addressed instead of unnecessarily provoking the governor,’’ Annamalai said.

Annamalai said though he said the governor should not talk politics, none should expect him to be silent on every issue. “He has every right to talk about culture and tradition,’’ he said.

On alleged child marriages conducted by dikshithars of Chidambaram temple, the governor spoke about two finger tests conducted by government doctors, which was confirmed by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, he said.

Referring to Stalin’s letter to the governor justifying his decision to retain V Senthil Balaji as a minister without portfolio, Annamalai said Stalin was attempting to cover up the flaws of his partymen by diverting the blame to the governor. That cannot be accepted,” he said.
